10 October 2013 Luncheon Meeting

We will be meeting at 11:30 and start lunch at 12:00 in the Mustang Room at the Hope Hotel.

The menu is Tuscan Chicken with Wild Rice. There is no wine or soda. There has been a price increase this year and we have to adjust accordingly, so now the cost is $14 ($12 for students).  If you plan to attend, please RSVP by noon, Tuesday, 8 October, to Brian.Roadruck.ctr@afit.edu.

Our speaker will be Dr. Grace Gao, an assistant professor in the Aerospace Engineering Department, University of Illinois.  She obtained her Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering at Stanford University in 2008.  Prof. Gao has won a number of awards, including RTCA William E. Jackson Award, Institute of Navigation Early Achievement Award, 50 GNSS Leaders to Watch by GPS World Magazine, and multiple best presentation awards at ION GNSS conferences. Prof. Gao serves the Institute of Navigation as an elected Council member and is co-chair of the Technical Committee on Air Navigation.

Topic:  Cooperative GNSS

Most of the existing platforms that include GPS, such as UAVs or smart phones, are also equipped with communication capabilities as well as other navigation sensors. We will explore signal processing for not just one, but multiple GNSS receivers and other navigational sensors cooperatively and use examples to show the benefits and improvement in accuracy, availability and security.
